Organized by the Rehabilitation Nursing Hubs of the Local Health Units of Alentejo (Central Alentejo, Litoral Alentejano, Baixo Alentejo, and Alto Alentejo), the initiative aimed to highlight the role of Rehabilitation Nursing in care provision.
The first day, October 19th, was dedicated to two respiratory rehabilitation workshops, held at NERE, where clinical support techniques and devices were discussed, including non-invasive ventilation, nebulization, humidification, and secretion mobilization.
On October 20th, the meeting continued at the PACT Auditorium with four thematic panels on integrating primary care, lifelong rehabilitation, innovation, and creating value in health. ULSAC led the panel “Innovating to Rehabilitate: projects and new approaches”, exploring topics such as regaining autonomy, sports rehabilitation, and the application of artificial intelligence in healthcare.
Nurse Manager Maria Manuel Varela, from ULSAC and President of the Organizing Committee, explained the theme choice: “in a time when everything seems to demand speed, immediate results, and ever more efficient responses, rehabilitating slowly reminds us that each person has their own pace, their own history, their own abilities, and their own needs”. She added that “rehabilitating slowly does not mean doing less or progressing slower due to a lack of ambition. It means knowing how to respect the person's time, recognizing the importance of each achievement, and understanding that, often, it is small progress that paves the way for the biggest changes”.
