The Alentejo 2030 Regional Program convened with the region's five Intermunicipal Communities (CIMs) to assess the progress of ongoing investments and reinforce commitment to execution and financial certification targets for 2026.

The working meeting, held on October 13th, was attended by key figures including the Secretary of State for Planning and Regional Development, Hélder Reis, the President of CCDR Alentejo, I.P., Ricardo Pinheiro, and the President of the Agency for Development and Cohesion (AD&C), Cláudia Joaquim. The gathering aimed to monitor the execution of supported investments and strengthen support for the program's public beneficiaries.
Ricardo Pinheiro highlighted the importance of collaboration between CCDR Alentejo and the CIMs, emphasizing that the success of Alentejo 2030 depends on the collective capacity to implement approved projects. The goal is to ensure European funds yield tangible benefits for the region's citizens, businesses, and institutions.
Key challenges in investment execution and short-term realization guarantees were discussed. The session was particularly relevant given the N+3 rule, which sets minimum execution levels to prevent the loss of European funds, as part of ongoing program monitoring.
Data presented shows that as of September 30, 2026, the Alentejo 2030 Program, with a total allocation exceeding 1.1 billion euros, had approximately 535 million euros in approved funds, 132 million euros validated, and nearly 158 million euros paid to beneficiaries.
The execution of investments contracted with the CIMs, strategic partners responsible for key projects in areas such as mobility, education, health, and environment, was also analyzed. As of the same date, CIMs had over 181 million euros in approved funds and around 77 million euros paid.
The meeting identified constraints, monitored projects impacting financial execution, and defined enhanced support measures to ensure planned investments proceed swiftly and meet established targets. The Alentejo 2030 Management Authority urged all stakeholders to commit to maximizing the use of available European funds and accelerating the region's economic, social, and territorial transformation.
