The Local Health Unit of Alentejo Central (ULSAC) has provided an update on the outbreak of respiratory illness caused by the Influenza A virus, identified in a care home in the municipality of Estremoz. Since the outbreak was detected on September 23rd, ULSAC has been coordinating the healthcare teams involved in monitoring the situation.
The Public Health Department of ULSAC continues its epidemiological surveillance, ensuring compliance with infection control measures, including hygiene, isolation, and the use of personal protective equipment.
Regarding the hospital situation, one patient infected with Influenza A, admitted to Évora Hospital on September 25th, remains hospitalized. Additionally, between October 3rd and 4th, two more patients from the same care home were admitted to the ULSAC Polivalent Emergency Service and are currently under observation.
ULSAC will continue to closely monitor the evolution of this outbreak, providing further information as new developments arise.
