The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, inaugurated the new facilities of the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Nursery in Penamacor on Saturday, October 3rd.

The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, attended the inauguration ceremony of the new facilities of the Nossa Senhora da Conceição Nursery, run by the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Penamacor (SCMP), this Saturday, October 3rd. The ceremony was attended by various official entities, including the institution's Provedor, João José Cunha, members of the Penamacor Municipal Council, the President of the Penamacor Municipal Assembly, Valéria Gonçalves, the Bishop of the Diocese of Guarda, D. José Miguel Barata Pereira, and the Director of the District Center for Social Security of Castelo Branco, Clara Ramos.
The project, which represented an investment of approximately one million euros, was funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), the Penamacor Municipal Council, and the SCMP. The intervention allowed the nursery's capacity to double, from 25 to 50 children. Currently, the SCMP offers services including Nursery, Preschool, After-School Activities Center, and home support.
The President of the Penamacor Municipal Council (CMP), José Miguel Oliveira, highlighted that the inauguration represents an investment in people and confidence in the future of the municipality. "An investment of this magnitude shows that it is possible to achieve ambitious projects in an interior territory when there is initiative and, above all, when institutions work together," he stated, emphasizing the CMP's investment of over 330,000 euros.
José Miguel Oliveira argued that Local Government must work together with associations, businesses, and social institutions, such as the SCMP, to create conditions for territorial development and support families. "Social institutions are fundamental partners of the Municipality of Penamacor and can always count on our support," he assured.
The mayor appealed to the President of the Republic to carry a message of hope from the country's interior, calling for "conditions to compete, attract people and investment, and build our future," concluding that the new nursery is part of this effort.
