Alentejo is once again asserting itself in the national context of cohesion policies, with two supported projects selected for the 2nd edition of the European Funds Awards. This initiative distinguishes projects financed by European funds with a high economic, social, environmental, and territorial impact.
Among the finalists are the Alentejo Wines Sustainability Program, supported by the Alentejo 2020 Program, in the + Green category, and the project Mobility for All on the Calçadinha de Coruche – 2nd phase, supported by the Alentejo 2030 Program, in the + Connected category.
The selection of these projects represents the recognition of the work developed by entities and beneficiaries in the region in implementing investments that contribute to a more sustainable, innovative, inclusive, and competitive Alentejo. The finalist projects also reflect the capacity of European funds to generate concrete results in people's lives, local communities, and territorial development.
The Alentejo Wines Sustainability Program has played a pioneering role in promoting environmentally responsible practices in the regional wine sector, contributing to the reduction of the environmental footprint, efficient resource management, and the strengthening of competitiveness in one of Alentejo's most important economic sectors.
In turn, the project Mobility for All on the Calçadinha de Coruche – 2nd phase is an example of investment focused on accessibility and inclusion, promoting soft mobility solutions and qualifying public space for residents and visitors, in line with the objectives of more sustainable urban mobility.
The European Funds Awards ceremony will take place on November 5th, integrated into the European Funds Showcase, when the winners of the different categories will be announced.
