The Municipal Library began, on October 27th, activities with the senior public from the Santa Casa da Misericórdia – Lar Sede, within the scope of the «Histórias do Arco da Velha» project. The initiative aims to revive memories and value the experiences of the elderly.
In the first session, school days were recalled through the reading of the short story «O início do ano escolar. O dia 7 de outubro», from the book “Quotidiano Pampilhosense”, by José Almeida. The reading provided a moment for sharing stories and memories, in a convivial and cheerful atmosphere.
On a monthly basis, the initiative includes readings of texts that evoke past times, guessing games, and popular proverbs. The goal is to preserve traditions, customs, and popular knowledge, recognizing the importance of the elderly in transmitting collective memory to future generations.
