The President of the Republic, António José Seguro, will be in Leiria next Friday, October 30th, to learn about two important projects for modernizing the municipality's educational infrastructure. The visit, which will be attended by the Mayor of Leiria, Gonçalo Lopes, and the councilor for education, Anabela Graça, will begin at 10:00 AM at the Escola Secundária Afonso Lopes Vieira.
At the Escola Secundária Afonso Lopes Vieira, the President of the Republic will be briefed on the renovation project for the educational establishment, which aims to improve learning conditions, modernize educational spaces, and provide greater comfort and safety to the school community. This intervention is part of the effort to modernize the municipality's school facilities, focusing on the quality of teaching spaces and infrastructure efficiency.
The renovation is particularly relevant in the context of the challenges posed by storm Kristin, which hit the municipality in January of this year. The Municipality of Leiria has been reinforcing its commitment to the resilience of school facilities against extreme weather phenomena.
The visit continues at 11:30 AM at the Escola Profissional de Leiria, where the President of the Republic will participate in the inauguration of Specialized Technology Centers. These structures are intended to enhance technical and professional training through spaces and equipment suited to the current demands of education and the job market.
The presidential visit aims to showcase the work developed in qualifying Leiria's educational network and reaffirm the importance of education as a strategic priority for the municipality's development.
