The Municipality of Oliveira do Hospital has announced the two winning projects of the 2026 edition of the Young Participatory Budget (OPJ): "11th edition of the Seixo da Beira Parish Carnival" and "Resilient Communities – Together We Build Safer Communities!".

The proposals were the most voted, respectively, and will receive funding of 5,500 euros each. An additional amount of up to one thousand euros may be allocated to the most voted proposal, upon presentation of expense receipts.
Eight candidacies were put to a vote in this edition, with projects from different areas to be developed in various parishes of the municipality. The vote took place online on the "Participa.gov" platform, and the call for participation made by the Municipality and the candidacies themselves contributed to a significant increase in the number of young voters.
The Young Participatory Budget aims to give young people, aged 16 to 35, the opportunity to identify and propose projects of interest to the municipality. According to the Youth Councillor, Bruno Miranda, the Municipality seeks, through this initiative, to establish a more participatory and informed model of local governance, defining priorities in municipal investment.
The local authority thus intends to foster the exercise of informed, active, and responsible citizenship among young people in local governance processes, encouraging dialogue between elected officials, municipal technicians, citizens, and civil society to find the best solutions, considering available resources.
