The municipality of Mira has been selected by the organization of the Comptoir de Payerne, in Switzerland, to be the Guest of Honour at the 65th edition of the event, which will be held from November 6 to 15, 2026. This invitation represents a significant opportunity for the international promotion of the municipality, its traditions, culture, and tourist resources to the Swiss public and the Portuguese community residing in the country.
The opening ceremony, scheduled for this Friday, November 6, will be attended by the President of the Municipal Chamber of Mira, Artur Fresco, accompanied by an institutional delegation. The delegation includes Councillor Bruno Maduro, the President of the Municipal Assembly of Mira, and the Presidents of the Parish Councils of Mira, Seixo, and Carapelhos.
Participation in the event, which will feature over a hundred exhibitors, aims to showcase the municipality's identity and potential, highlighting its natural heritage, traditions, gastronomy, and tourist offerings. Under the slogan “Explore, Viva, Sinta… Mira,” the municipality will be presented as a territory where the sea, forest, and tradition converge.
A musical interlude during the opening ceremony will be performed by BSN Rock Band, a Portuguese band based in Payerne with two musicians originally from Praia de Mira. The performance was arranged at the invitation of the Municipality of Mira, strengthening the connection to the municipality and the expatriate community.
The Municipality of Mira expressed its gratitude to the Portuguese Centre of Payerne, represented by Paulo Clemente, for their support and collaboration in preparing this participation, deemed essential for local coordination and the municipality's presence at the event.
The participation in the Comptoir de Payerne is viewed as a strategic opportunity to promote Mira internationally, strengthen ties with the emigrant community, and showcase the territory's identity, traditions, and natural heritage.
