The «Heróis da Fruta» project, promoted by the Junta de Freguesia of Sobral da Adiça, aims to encourage healthy eating habits among children in the local Kindergarten and 1st Cycle Basic School (EB1). The initiative also seeks to promote contact with different foods and foster, from an early age, a taste for a balanced diet.
Starting on October 19th, the project will run for five weeks, including playful and educational activities. One of the first activities, held on October 21st, involved a blind tasting of five fruits — mango, persimmon, pear, banana, and plum — to explore flavors, textures, and aromas.
In the second week, on October 28th, a healthy snack was prepared with natural yogurt, red berries, seeds, and honey. On November 4th, children prepared and tasted wholemeal toast with cream cheese, pumpkin jam, and walnuts, exploring new flavor combinations.
These initiatives aim to teach children, in a practical and fun way, the importance of making healthier food choices, encouraging them to apply this knowledge in their daily lives and within their families. The Parish Council believes that educating for healthy eating from childhood is an investment in the health and well-being of children.
