Eight Schools in Mira Receive Eco-Schools Green Flags

National ceremony in Sintra recognized the sustainability and environmental education work carried out by educational communities.

Eight educational institutions in the municipality of Mira were honored with the Eco-Schools 2025/2026 award during a national ceremony held in Sintra.

The municipality of Mira saw eight of its educational establishments recognized within the framework of the Eco-Schools 2025/2026 Program. The national ceremony for the awarding of the Green Flags took place in Sintra on October 8th.
The initiative, promoted by the Blue Flag Association for Environment and Education (ABAAE), aims to distinguish the work developed by educational communities in promoting environmental education and adopting more sustainable practices.
The schools in the municipality of Mira that received this recognition are: Mira Basic School; EB1 da Lagoa School; EB1 da Lentisqueira School; EB1 de Portomar School; EB1 do Seixo School; EB1 da Praia de Mira School; Dr.ª Maria Cândida Secondary School with 3rd Cycle; and the Lentisqueira Kindergarten.
The awarding of the Green Flag acknowledges the active involvement of students, teachers, and the entire educational community in developing projects and activities focused on environmental protection, responsible resource management, and sustainability promotion.
The Municipality of Mira extends its congratulations to all the distinguished schools, as well as to the students, teachers, and other participants who contributed to the realization of these important environmental education initiatives throughout the academic year.
