From October 16 to 25, the Autumn Flavors Gastronomic Festival in Lousã invites visitors to discover local gastronomy through the offerings of 18 participating restaurants. For ten days, seasonal products and the expertise of local chefs will shape menus that blend traditional recipes with new interpretations.
Chestnuts, pumpkin, and mushrooms will be featured alongside Serra da Lousã DOP Honey and Licor Beirão in starters, main courses, and desserts. From chanfana to kid goat, game dishes to vegetarian options, there will be diverse ways to savor autumn and explore the local cuisine.
The experience extends beyond the dining table, featuring a cultural program, partner discounts, and the Gastronomic Passport, encouraging participation in Lousã's gastronomic events. Consult the menus, choose your restaurant, and plan your visit.
Participating restaurants present dishes that highlight seasonal flavors, regional gastronomy, and the creativity of their chefs. Highlights include wild boar baked in a wood-fired oven with sweet potato and mushroom cream, roasted kid goat with chestnuts, kid goat and mushroom pie, and a vegetarian dish with chestnuts and mushrooms. Desserts feature chestnut crème brûlée, puddings with Serra da Lousã DOP Honey and Licor Beirão, and pumpkin tarts.
The festival also includes partners offering discounts on accommodation, shopping, and tourist activities, such as Pera da Serra, Quintal de Além do Ribeiro Turismo Rural, Activar — Associação de Cooperação da Lousã, Montanhas do Xisto, Pastel da Vila, and Quinta de Vale Escuro — AL.
The cultural program features a performance by Paula Morelenbaum — Bossarenova Trio: Levitar at the Lousã Municipal Theater on October 16, the opening of the Collective Painting Exhibition — Mulher Rural (Rural Woman) at the Dr. Louzã Henriques Ethnographic Museum on October 17, and the shows A Árvore da Minha Avó (Companhia Boca de Cão) and Bonecos de Santo Aleixo (Centro Dramático de Évora), both at the Lousã Municipal Theater.
The Gastronomic Passport encourages participants to register their involvement in events and continue discovering the region's flavors throughout the year. The organization also promotes experience sharing through a survey linked to a prize draw.
Lousã's gastronomic calendar continues in November with the 35th Honey and Chestnut Fair, from November 20 to 22, 2026.
