The Góis Reading Booth reopens its doors on October 12th, at 3:00 PM, on Avenida Luís de Camões, following a renovation project aimed at enhancing its role as a space for community sharing and participation.

The Municipality of Góis and the MEO Foundation are marking the reopening of the Góis Reading Booth, a free access reading space integrated into the national network of MEO Foundation Reading Booths. The ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 12th, at 3:00 PM.
The renovation project, completed in July, has updated the booth and adapted it for new uses. The space has been designed to encourage interaction among users and the exchange of experiences, featuring a dedicated sharing area, a postcard station, and a mailbox. The new Reading Booths identity also includes digital content accessible via QR codes, making these spaces more welcoming, inclusive, and participatory.
The Reading Booth functions as a free micro-library where anyone can take a book and leave another, contributing to the circulation of reading materials. The MEO Foundation's project, launched in 2013, has transformed approximately 90 former telephone booths into free access cultural spaces across the country.
In Góis, the project is supported by the António Francisco Barata Municipal Library and aligns with the municipality's strategy to promote books and reading. The MEO Foundation fully funded the renovation, while the Municipality of Góis is responsible for the structure's maintenance, upkeep, and security.
The reopening aims to signify a new phase for this local cultural space, maintaining its purpose of encouraging reading, book sharing, and intergenerational encounters.
