The Sintra Municipal Council ensures the continuity of social water and sanitation tariffs, offering more favorable conditions to residents in greater economic vulnerability.

The municipality of Sintra has confirmed the continuation of benefits associated with the Social Tariff and the Solidarity Tariff for water and sanitation services. These social support initiatives aim to assist residents in greater economic hardship, providing them with easier access to fundamental services such as water supply, sanitation, and urban waste collection.
Marco Almeida, president of the Sintra Municipal Council, highlighted the importance of these measures: “Ensuring access to essential services is a priority, especially for residents in situations of greater vulnerability, reinforcing Sintra's commitment to a social policy of proximity”.
Through the Municipalized Water and Sanitation Services of Sintra, the social tariffs include the provision of the first 5 m³ of water and corresponding sanitation. Additionally, they feature exemptions from water, sanitation, and urban waste tariffs.
By implementing these social protection policies, Sintra aims to support its citizens and promote improvements in quality of life and social inclusion.
