On September 17th, the Municipality of Oleiros, in collaboration with the Escola Segura program and the Agrupamento de Escolas Padre António de Andrade (AEPAA), organized an awareness initiative for students of the 1st Cycle of Basic Education. The activity focused on travel safety and the responsible use of public space, as part of European Mobility Week.
The session aimed to instill in the younger generation the importance of safe circulation, addressing essential behaviors such as attention and visibility during travel, safe street crossing, correct use of sidewalks and pedestrian crossings, and the safe use of bicycles and other active mobility means. Emphasis was also placed on respect for all road users and safe coexistence among pedestrians, cyclists, and vehicles.
The main objective of this action was to foster the adoption of safe behaviors, encourage active mobility from an early age, and reinforce individual and collective responsibility in managing public space. Beyond memorizing rules, the initiative sought to build a culture of safe, responsible, and sustainable mobility among the youth.
