Researcher Leonor Anjos, a PhD student in Sports Science at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), was awarded the Best Presentation Award at the Health & Performance Congress 2026.

The distinction was given for the presentation of the work “Load-Power Profiling in the Chest Press Exercise in Female Breast Cancer Survivors: optimal load for maximal power”, developed within the MAMA_MOVE® program, dedicated to intervention through physical exercise in oncological diseases. The work is part of research aiming to support the prescription and adaptation of physical exercise for this population.
Leonor Anjos, who is also a student in the 3rd Cycle/PhD in Sports Science and a scholarship researcher at the Centre for Research in Sport, Health and Human Development (CIDESD), stated that the award is a "recognition of the work of the entire team and the research we have been developing in MAMA_MOVE®" and a "motivation to continue producing knowledge that can contribute to improving intervention with people with oncological diseases".
The MAMA_MOVE® team participated in the congress, held on October 1st and 2nd, presenting several scientific works. In addition to Leonor Anjos, PhD students Ricardo Madeira, Adriana Maia, and Adelósio Soma, and Master's student in Sports Science Tatiana Ferreira were present.
The meeting served to disseminate research conducted at UBI and CIDESD, share knowledge, and discuss the role of physical exercise in the care of people with oncological diseases. The link between research and intervention is central to MAMA_MOVE®, which studies issues with practical application and underpins intervention through physical exercise.
This distinction reinforces the recognition of CIDESD's scientific excellence, which was recently evaluated with the classification of “Excellent” by the Foundation for Science and Technology, establishing itself as a reference center in the area of Sports Science, Exercise, and Health.
