The Castelo Branco Municipal Services (SMCB) report that water supply disruptions occurred in Escalos de Cima, Sobral do Campo, and Alcains throughout October 25, 2026.

Water supply failures in several localities of the Castelo Branco municipality were caused by incidents in the main system's infrastructure, managed by Águas do Vale do Tejo. In Escalos de Cima, a pipeline rupture reported early in the morning led to disruptions, with repairs carried out during the day. In Sobral do Campo, a lack of water entering the municipal reservoir, due to problems with the main supply, caused distribution network failures. In Alcains, the reservoir ran out of water by the end of the day, leading to supply interruptions for the population.
The SMCB maintained constant contact with Águas do Vale do Tejo to monitor the evolution of the incidents and minimize impacts. Currently, the water supply in Sobral do Campo has been normalized. The restoration of normal supply in Escalos de Cima and Alcains is underway, depending on the regularization of the supply from the main system and the replenishment of reservoir levels.
Following these incidents, the SMCB are conducting operational control of the network, including purging and other maintenance and monitoring actions, to ensure adequate system functioning and the quality of distributed water after supply is restored.
