In the fifth edition of the National Education Awards, the Fundão municipality secured second place in the Science Category with the project «Cultivating the Future: Reduction of Ultra-processed Foods in Preschool» and third place in the Sports and Well-being Category with the Fundão Summer Campus.
The National Education Awards annually recognize Municipalities, Schools, or Institutions for their meritorious work and positive impact on the territory, within the scope of Education, across eight distinct categories.
In the Municipal Excellence Award 2026, Fundão achieved Gold Recognition with the AEC projects «Growing in Respect» and AEC «The World Lives Here» (Social Action Area), «Cultivating the Future: Reduction of Ultra-processed Foods in Preschool» (Health Area), and «Trail of the Cherry: The Best of Gardunha» (Sports Area).
The Municipal Excellence Award, promoted by the Cidade Social platform, recognizes the best practices of Portuguese municipalities in priority areas such as Social Action, Education, Health, Sports, Culture, and Tourism.
Furthermore, the 2026 Summer Campus received the Quality Recognition for Holiday Camps.
The Municipality of Fundão was also awarded the Ubbu Gold Seal, given by the ubbu platform to schools with over 75% of active students. This distinction recognizes the Junior Code Academy program, which in the 2026/2027 academic year involves 946 students from the 1st cycle and 490 students from the 2nd cycle of basic education.
These distinctions reflect the Fundão Municipality's commitment and positive impact on the community, aligning its projects with national best practices in territorial development and proximity to the population.
