During September and October 2026, the Local School Health Team (ELSE) of the Community Care Unit (UCC) Cava Juliana, part of the ULS da Cova da Beira (ULSCBEIRA), organized several Health Education activities. These initiatives involved students, teaching, and non-teaching staff from various educational establishments in Covilhã.
At the Basic School of the 2nd and 3rd Cycles of Paúl, topics such as diabetes, epilepsy, and the administration of SOS medication in a school setting were addressed in sessions for teaching and non-teaching staff. 5th-year students also participated in sessions on diabetes and the importance of sleep, themed «Sleep. What a waste of time… Is it?».
At the Basic School of the 2nd and 3rd Cycles of Tortosendo, the session «The Body's Seasons (Menopause)» provided teaching and non-teaching staff with information and awareness about this life stage.
At EPABI, 12th-year students participated in sessions on first aid in recreational and nighttime contexts.
The initiative «Growing Up Is Like This…» involved students from 1st to 4th grade at the Basic School of the 1st Cycle of Largo da Feira, in Tortosendo.
The sessions were led by nurses Fátima Cardoso, Ana Santos, Ana Lucas, Maria José Carrega, Sónia Moreira, and Ana Geraldes, aiming to reinforce prevention, health literacy, and the adoption of healthy behaviors.
Through this intervention, the UCC Cava Juliana continues to bring healthcare closer to the educational community, contributing to more informed and healthier schools.
