The village of Sambade, in the municipality of Alfândega da Fé, will host the Mountain Festival from October 30th to November 1st, an event celebrating the Transmontano autumn with gastronomy, culture, music, and tradition.

For three days, the initiative, promoted by the Câmara Municipal de Alfândega da Fé in partnership with the Junta de Freguesia de Sambade, aims to highlight the region's identity and products, with a focus on chestnuts and mountain flavors, including wild mushrooms.
The program features the traditional Magusto da Montanha for the school community, the XII Chestnut Seminar, and the VIII Best Chestnut Contest. Gastronomic events dedicated to local products will also be part of the festival.
Culture and traditions are also central, with theater performances, singing, mask workshops led by Isidro Rodrigues and Pedro Giestas, and the recreation of the emblematic Queimada de Monte Mel.
Musical entertainment will be provided by various groups and artists, including the Associação Musical de Alfândega da Fé, singing groups from Sambade and Alfândega da Fé, Gaiteiros Os Roleses, Sons da Billa, Us Bat N’Pelle, Eduardo Beça & Matilde Cepeda, UXU KALHUS, and Ruizinho de Penacova.
The connection with nature and mountain traditions will be present through the Wild Boar Hunt and the Mountain Walk, inviting visitors to explore the local landscape and natural heritage.
The Mountain Festival will once again transform Sambade into a meeting point to celebrate Transmontano identity, with a program that combines gastronomy, culture, music, nature, and traditional craftsmanship.
