The exhibition, organized in partnership with the National Museum of Contemporary Art – Chiado Museum, displays over half of the 367 works that make up the collection, spanning more than a century of artistic creation. The exhibition aims to position CACGM within the national contemporary art circuit.
Isabel Ferreira, Mayor of Bragança, highlighted Bragança's capacity to host large-scale exhibitions and the importance of decentralizing access to art. "We want the Graça Morais Contemporary Art Centre to increasingly have this national dimension and for Bragança to be a point from which the best of the country's art can be known and appreciated," she stated.
Curated by Adelaide Duarte, António Meireles, and Filipa Oliveira, the exhibition is divided into thematic nuclei such as portraiture, landscape, the body, drawing, and abstraction, exploring relationships between artists, eras, and languages. The title is inspired by a painting by Albuquerque Mendes.
This is the first posthumous exhibition dedicated to the collection of Alberto Caetano, who passed away on October 4, 2026. The initiative pays tribute to the collector for his gesture of donating a heritage gathered over approximately five decades to the Portuguese State.
Alberto Caetano, born in Lisbon in 1959, was an architect and maintained a close connection to the visual arts. In March 2026, he was awarded the Medal of Cultural Merit by the Portuguese Government.
The exhibition, which involves collaboration with Museus e Monumentos de Portugal, will be on display at the Graça Morais Contemporary Art Centre until February 14, 2027.
