The Vila Nova de Famalicão Bus Station has become a crucial point for mobility, with approximately 12,000 buses departing monthly to various destinations in Portugal and Europe. Since its renovation and inauguration in 2023, the station has strengthened the municipality's connection to the national and international territory.
The service offering has recently grown with the approval of three new contracts for passenger boarding and disembarking. One of these establishes an express service between Lindoso (Ponte da Barca) and Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport, operated by Alvegal – Viagens e Turismo, with a stop in Famalicão. Additionally, Famalicão will serve as an intermediate point for express services between Braga and Beja (operated by EVA – Transportes SA) and between Peniche and Ponte de Lima (operated by Rede Nacional de Expressos).
The Mayor, Mário Passos, highlighted that the increase in services represents "an important reinforcement of mobility in the municipality, facilitating travel for those who live, work, study, or visit Famalicão".
The station already ensures regional connections to neighboring municipalities through MobiAve, Mov Cávado, and Ave Mobilidade. National destinations such as Lisbon, Vila Real de Santo António, Bragança, Coimbra, and others are served by FlixBus and Rede Nacional de Expressos. International offerings include connections to Switzerland (Chur) with Giromundo, to Luxembourg (Echternach), and to France (Rouen) with Barquense.
The Famalicão Bus Station, renovated in 2023, now offers greater comfort and quality, functioning as a convergence point for various operators and routes, promoting a more comprehensive and accessible transport network.
