The campaign covers the 14 parishes of the municipality and aims to ensure compliance with legal obligations for animal vaccination and identification. Rabies vaccination costs 10 euros, the dog health booklet is 1 euro, and electronic identification with registration in SIAC (Companion Animals Information System) costs 2.50 euros. Payment is exclusively in cash. Guide dogs are exempt from vaccination and health booklet fees.
Electronic identification is mandatory up to 120 days of age and must be done before rabies vaccination. Microchip placement during the campaign is linked to rabies vaccination. In addition to the scheduled dates, these procedures can also be performed at the Official Collection Center of Santo Tirso (Municipal Kennel/Cattery) by prior appointment and at the same prices.
The campaign requires prior booking at the parish council where the procedure will take place, although residents can choose any location regardless of their parish of residence. For more information, interested parties can contact the Municipal Services or their local parish council.
The vaccination schedule across the parishes includes specific dates in October, November, and December, with various times. For instance, in Agrela and Carreira e Refojos de Riba de Ave, vaccination is on October 28th. In Monte Córdova, it's on October 17th, and in Reguenga on October 14th. Santo Tirso, Couto (S. Cristina e S. Miguel) e Burgães have the campaign on October 7th. Vila das Aves on October 9th, and Vila Nova do Campo on October 2nd. In November, Lamelas e Guimarei on the 18th, and São Tomé de Negrelos on the 11th. In December, Água Longa on November 28th, Areias, Sequeirô, Lama e Palmeira on December 5th, and Vilarinho on December 12th. Roriz has its campaign on October 24th.
