The Póvoa de Lanhoso Network of Community Centers will gain another space with the inauguration of the new Covelas Community Center. The new social response, located at the headquarters of the Freguesia Council, starts with 23 registered seniors.
The facilities have undergone improvements to ensure maximum comfort, welcome, and safety, including room painting, floor replacement, renovation of sanitary facilities, and renewal of the kitchen and snack area.
Users will have access to a diverse program, including music, dance, sewing and crochet workshops, physical activity, cultural and recreational visits, and intergenerational meetings, promoting active aging, socialization, and well-being.
They will also be able to participate in joint activities promoted within the Municipal Network of Community Centers, such as the Christmas Lunch, São Martinho's Magusto, Carnival and Easter celebrations, and other cultural and recreational initiatives.
With the integration of Covelas (17th center) and an increase in users at the Vilela Community Center (around 30 users), the Municipal Network now has over 480 users. Growth will continue with the planned opening in December of the Monsul Community Center, the 18th in the network.
Developed in partnership with the Freguesia Councils and Unions, this municipal network goes beyond simple leisure time occupation. It is a firm commitment to combating loneliness and isolation, creating spaces for sharing, friendship, and community life that keep our senior population active, integrated, and happy.
