The Hospital de Guimarães performed the first cardiac magnetic resonance imaging exam with pharmacological stress induction, a new service that enhances the diagnostic capacity for cardiovascular diseases and reduces waiting times.

The procedure was carried out by the Imaging Service, under the clinical responsibility of the Cardiology Service, as announced by the Local Health Unit (ULS) of Alto Ave, to which the hospital belongs.
This advanced technique allows for the evaluation of the heart muscle's function and blood supply through a pharmacological stimulus that simulates physical exertion conditions, being particularly relevant in the investigation of coronary artery disease.
With the introduction of this service, ULS Alto Ave internally provides an examination that previously required patients to be referred to other institutions. This measure increases response capacity, avoids patient travel, and reduces waiting times, resulting from joint work between the Imaging and Cardiology services.
