Under the theme “You keep me in your hands,” the commemorations begin on October 1st, at 2:30 PM, with a Eucharist at the Multipurpose Pavilion of Guimarães. This ceremony, organized by the Archpriestship of Guimarães and Vizela, expects to gather over 1000 seniors from the municipality's Private Institutions of Social Solidarity (IPSS) and Social Projects.
Throughout the month, various awareness and training sessions will be held. On October 13th, 14th, and 20th, sessions on Rights and Protection of Older Persons will take place, aimed at seniors identified by the 65+ Program. Additionally, on October 30th, training on “The Judicial Process: the role of technicians and their protection within criminal proceedings” will be offered to the 65+ Program's Technical Managers, both facilitated by the Commission for the Protection of the Elderly.
The Profitecla Professional School will host, on October 22nd and 29th, the training “When cooking is also a way of caring,” aimed at IPSS cooks and nutritionists, facilitated by Chef Álvaro Dinis Mendes.
During the entire month, the municipality's IPSS and Social Projects will participate in thematic activities, promoted by partners of the Social Network, aiming to foster social interaction, learning, and healthy aging.
The celebrations also include the Awareness Campaign for the Rights of Elderly Consumers, promoted by the CIAC - Municipal Consumer Information Center, with sessions scheduled directly with IPSS and Social Projects.
