On 15 October 2026, ERSE hosted the event “Blue Decarbonisation – From Challenges to Action”, marking the launch of the second phase of the Blue Decarbonisation Task Force (TFDA), an initiative of the UN Global Compact Network Portugal.

The session brought together around 40 in-person and 12 online participants, including representatives from public bodies, companies, and other stakeholders from the energy, maritime, and port sectors. The event aims to foster dialogue and coordination between public and private organisations, as well as between the energy, maritime transport, infrastructure, and finance sectors, to implement solutions and avoid barriers to decarbonisation investment.
Artur Trindade, representing ERSE, emphasised the initiative's importance, highlighting the entity's cooperation with Portuguese-speaking countries. The event featured presentations by Mário Parra da Silva (Chair of the UN Global Compact Network Portugal), Marisa Lameiras da Silva (Director-General of Maritime Policy), and André Couto (DGRM), on the strategic vision and challenges of implementing decarbonisation policies in the maritime sector.
Anabela Vaz Ribeiro, Executive Director of the UN Global Compact Network Portugal, presented the objectives for the TFDA's second phase. This collaborative platform aims to accelerate the decarbonisation of the maritime and port sectors, focusing on implementing solutions, removing investment barriers, and strengthening cooperation among stakeholders.
The TFDA's work is organised around four key areas: digitalisation of ports, maritime operations, and industry; infrastructure and energy; decarbonisation of fisheries and maritime-coastal activities; and financing mechanisms and transition plans.
