The Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão categorically denies accusations of a lack of transparency in the lotteries for allocating municipal housing for affordable rental, assuring that the process adheres to defined rules and criteria.

The council clarifies that participation in the final stage of the lotteries is subject to a prior registration, analysis, and validation process of applications, meaning that each lottery does not correspond to the opening of a new application period.
Interested residents must complete an initial registration on the Viver Famalicão portal (https://viver.famalicao.pt/) for municipal services to assess each application's eligibility. Only candidates whose applications were “VALIDATED – awaiting property selection” by the date of the notice/edict will proceed to the final lottery stage.
For the lottery on October 28, concerning 65 homes in the parishes of Oliveira Santa Maria and Telhado, 169 candidates are eligible, having had their applications considered “Validated” by the municipal services as of the edict's launch date (October 21, 2026).
All 169 eligible candidates were notified via email about the lottery, in addition to the edict's publication. Eligibility criteria are available on the Viver Famalicão portal and the Municipality's website.
The council reaffirms its commitment to transparency and strict adherence to the rules for allocating municipal housing, considering it essential to provide citizens with clear information rather than promoting misinformation on the matter.
