The parish of Antas now has a new bus to enhance transport services for the local population, schools, institutions, and community associations. The support from the Municipality of Esposende, representing 90% of the total investment, reflects its close work with the community and its commitment to finding concrete solutions to local needs.
At the vehicle's blessing ceremony, the Mayor of Esposende, Carlos Silva, highlighted that the bus addresses growing needs, such as the increase in children at the Guilheta Basic School and support for the senior population in social activities, cultural events, and outings, aiming to promote active aging and prevent social isolation.
The mayor also emphasized that local associations will benefit from improved conditions for their activities, facilitating participation in meetings, competitions, and cultural, recreational, and sports initiatives. This support is part of a broader set of municipal investments in Antas.
Other ongoing or planned interventions include the sanitation project on Rua Bento da Mota (over 1.6 million euros) and sanitation and paving works on Rua Monte Guilheta (773 thousand euros). The Municipality also co-financed the construction of a columbarium at Antas cemetery (30,500 euros) and the uniforms for the Music Band (40 thousand euros), with ongoing efforts to improve the conditions of the GRAÇA institution.
Municipal intervention also included the repair of walkways along the river and sea. The process to transfer the former Posto da Guarda Fiscal (Fiscal Guard Post) to the Parish Council is underway, allowing the building to host a new community service project.
