The Vila de Frades Parish Council installed the StarLink satellite internet system last Sunday, funded by the European Union under the PTRR program.

This initiative by the Portuguese Government covers the country's 3,258 parish councils with the aim of strengthening communication resilience in emergency situations.
In the event of natural disasters, fires, mobile network failures, or electricity supply disruptions, this system will enable communication with Civil Protection authorities, municipal services, and operational response structures.
Additionally, in extreme cases, the system provides Wi-Fi access within the Parish Council building, allowing the population to stay in touch with their families.
