Applications for the abem Card must be formalized by 11:59 PM on November 30th. It is recommended that applications be preceded by a social pre-assessment interview by the municipality's Social Action services. The application form is available online and can be obtained from the Social Action and Elder Service during office hours.
The abem Card – Solidarity Network for Medication allows free access to medicines requiring a medical prescription and subsidized by the SNS - National Health System, at participating pharmacies. To date, the program has supported 345 residents from 45 family units, with 82 active beneficiaries.
Applications for the abem Program in the municipality take place annually in the months of May and November. The program is aimed at needy individuals, including cases of unexpected economic hardship due to unemployment or disabling illness, among other situations to be analyzed.
The card functions discreetly, like a payment card, at participating pharmacies in the municipality, ensuring the dignity of beneficiaries.
