The distinction was announced at the World Travel Awards ceremony, held in Montenegro, southeastern Europe. Arouca competed against leading destinations such as Chamonix-Mont-Blanc (France) and The Matterhorn (Switzerland), among other Portuguese representatives.
This award underscores the value of a territory where nature, adventure, and environmental preservation converge, attracting visitors from around the globe and promoting the name of Arouca internationally.
“"This distinction represents a significant international recognition of the Paiva Walkways as a benchmark in nature and adventure tourism, enhancing the territory's natural heritage and reinforcing Arouca's projection as an excellent tourist destination."
Mayor Margarida Belém expressed the community's pride and thanked everyone who contributes to the project's success, including the team working at the infrastructure, the Municipality's teams, the local tourism sector, and other public and private entities.
