The conservation works at the Vigia da Baleia, located at Ponta dos Rosais, were carried out by the Municipality of Velas in coordination with the Parish Council of Rosais. The intervention focused on the execution of paintings and minor maintenance repairs.
This action contributes to the preservation and enhancement of this space, considered of historical, heritage, and landscape relevance for the parish and the island of São Jorge. The site is also a point of great touristic interest, included in visit itineraries and sought after by visitors.
Its privileged location offers a panoramic view over the sea, the Rosais Lighthouse, and the other islands of the Central Group of the Azores. The Vigia da Baleia is situated within a Natura 2000 area and stands as a testament to whaling activities and local life experiences.
