The Municipality of São Pedro do Sul delivered financial support to 11 eligible hunting associations on September 29th, aiming to mitigate the impacts caused by the wild boar population in the municipality.

Within the scope of the municipal support program for Hunting Associations in the municipality, aimed at contributing to the mitigation of impacts caused by the wild boar population, the respective support was delivered to the 11 eligible Hunting Associations. The handover took place in the Noble Hall of the Paços do Concelho, during a working meeting with the associations, in a moment of proximity and coordination between the Municipality and the entities that play an important role in the management and control of the wild boar population.
The support ranges between €500 and €3,000 per association, having been awarded based on the results obtained in controlling the species, the regularity of the activity carried out, and the actions taken to mitigate agricultural damage.
This financial support requires that 25% of it must be allocated to wild boar hunting licenses, thus directly supporting the member hunters of each of these associations. This measure is also present in the proposal for the Municipality's Rural Development Regulation, which is currently under Public Consultation.
