The festival began with an innovative session combining yoga, led by Rita Alves, with live jazz music by Rui Veiga and Luís Formiga. The experience, which involved 22 participants, utilized musical instruments and common objects to create an ambient soundscape accompanying the yoga exercises.
Rita Alves highlighted the atmosphere created by the combination of yoga and music, helping people cope with daily stress and regain well-being. Luís Formiga explained that their music is guided by the moment, reacting to the participants' movements and breathing, fostering a positive exchange of energy.
In the afternoon, the project Azul Piscina, featuring Miguel Rodrigues (drums), Miguel Meirinhos (piano), and Demian Cabaud (double bass), presented original tracks at the Cultural Animation Center, which will be included in their third album.
Miguel Rodrigues emphasized the importance of festivals like Mortágua Jazz Fest in promoting jazz beyond major urban centers and cultivating appreciation for the genre. He noted the unpredictability and uniqueness of each concert.
The festival continues in November with the show “VIDA NUM LOOP”, aimed at secondary school students, blending spoken word with rap and hip-hop elements, connected to urban music and jazz. This initiative by the Município de Mortágua aims to promote culture in the region.
