The Lamego Municipal Council is redeveloping Fafel Street, in a project with an investment exceeding one million euros aimed at improving urban mobility, road and pedestrian safety, and enhancing public space.

The requalification works on Fafel Street, in Lamego, continue to progress rapidly, as part of the municipal strategy to improve urban mobility. The intervention, funded by the Regional Operational Programme North 2030, aims to increase road and pedestrian safety, optimize traffic flow, and enhance public space.
To minimize traffic disruptions, the project has been divided into several phases. Currently, two requalified sections are already open to traffic, in the stretch connecting Praça Dr. Fernando Amaral to the Unidade de Saúde Familiar Almedina.
The intervention by the Municipality of Lamego includes paving the road, constructing sidewalks with accessibility ramps, creating elevated pedestrian crossings, and installing vertical signage, urban furniture, public lighting, and green spaces. Simultaneously, modernization of underground water and wastewater drainage networks is underway, as well as the installation of underground waste bins.
