The School of Technology and Management of Viseu (ESTGV), part of UPV, was highlighted at the summit which brought together researchers, companies, and students from 40 universities. ESTGV participated in the Pitch Ceremony – Call for Projects competition, in the student category, with the projects SoapLoop and TraceTex, both developed by Marketing degree students.
The SoapLoop project won 3rd place with a solution to transform solid hotel soap waste into new high-quality hygiene products. Developed by students Beatriz Vale, Ester Ferrão, Leonor Joaquim, Sabrina Lameira, and Raquel Silva, the project focuses on waste valorization and waste reduction.
The TraceTex project, by students Gloire Mkelelwa and Lea Reis, presents a digital solution (SaaS) to improve the management and traceability of textile waste in the hotel sector, using RFID technology to connect hotels, laundries, waste operators, and recyclers.
The participation, supervised by Professor Clarinda Almeida, the guiding lecturer, is seen as a recognition of the talent and entrepreneurial capacity of UPV students, highlighting the importance of education that combines scientific knowledge, technological skills, and practical application.
This distinction reinforces UPV's commitment to innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainability, training qualified and socially responsible professionals capable of responding to current and future challenges.
