The Intermunicipal Community (CIM) Viseu Dão Lafões is participating, from November 2nd to 5th, in a working mission to Barcelona, where it will present its new Urban Management Platform (PGU) at the Smart City Expo World Congress (SCEWC).
The presentation of the Viseu Dão Lafões PGU will take place on the afternoon of November 3rd, at the Ubiwhere stand, as part of the session “Smart Territories in Portugal: The State of PGUs in Portugal”. The session will be opened by João Azevedo, President of CIM Viseu Dão Lafões, and Nuno Ribeiro, Co-CEO of Ubiwhere, followed by a technical presentation by Diogo Correia, from Ubiwhere.
This initiative is part of the SMART REGION Viseu Dão Lafões project, which aims to develop a platform to gather and analyze data from various sources, improving territorial knowledge and decision-making support. The participation in Barcelona follows the SMART REGION SUMMIT, held on October 29th, which discussed the future of smart territories.
The Viseu Dão Lafões Urban Management Platform, integrating 11 strategic verticals, aligns with the National Strategy for Smart Territories, seeking to extend smart city methodologies to low-density areas. Objectives include modernizing public services, optimizing resource use, and sustainability.
“
"The presentation of this platform at an international event of the scale of the Smart City Expo World Congress represents a very significant moment for Viseu Dão Lafões. We are building a region increasingly capable of using technology and data to serve people and the quality of public services."
The November 3rd session will also feature roundtables on the National Strategy for Smart Territories and the implementation of Urban Management Platforms. Nuno Martinho, Executive Secretary of CIM Viseu Dão Lafões, will participate in the panel “Voices of the Territory”, with representatives from other CIMs.
“
"The digital transformation of territories only yields results when technology responds to concrete needs. This mission allows us to present the work we are developing, but also to learn about solutions, experiences, and models that can be useful for our municipalities. It is precisely this exchange that makes presence at an event of this dimension particularly relevant."
The Smart City Expo World Congress, taking place from November 3rd to 5th at Fira Barcelona Gran Via, expects over 27,000 participants from 130 countries, with debates on emerging technologies, AI, energy, mobility, and governance.
During the mission, representatives from Viseu Dão Lafões will visit the exhibition, attend conferences, and establish contacts to identify technologies and best practices applicable to their territory.
