The Intermunicipal Community (CIM) Viseu Dão Lafões launched today, October 22nd, a campaign to promote the bora! shared bicycle system among the school community, aiming to encourage young people to adopt bicycles for their daily commutes.
The initiative, which kicked off at the secondary schools of Tondela and Santa Comba Dão, will tour educational establishments in the region's 14 municipalities until the end of the month. The goal is to raise awareness about the service's operation and promote more sustainable mobility habits.
A promotional stand will be set up at the schools where students can resolve doubts, learn about membership conditions, and how to use the app to unlock bicycles. The campaign also includes a fun component with games and the chance to try out bicycles on a prepared circuit.
Students who download the app and register for the system, without an initial fee, will receive gifts such as bicycle light kits and locks. Through this action, CIM Viseu Dão Lafões aims to introduce the bora! system to a generation that can find in cycling a practical, economical, and environmentally sustainable alternative.

"We want the young people of Viseu Dão Lafões to discover that cycling can be a practical and accessible alternative for many of their daily commutes. Bora! is an investment we've made to improve mobility and quality of life in our territory, but its success also depends on people's adoption. By bringing this project to schools, we are promoting more sustainable mobility habits among a generation that will play a fundamental role in our region's future."

"This campaign aims to show students how simple it is to use bora!. We want them to get to know the bicycles, try the service, and understand how they can integrate it into their routines. Therefore, we have prepared a very practical and interactive initiative, with demonstrations, games, and gift giveaways. We believe that direct contact with the system is the best way to spark young people's curiosity and encourage them to become regular users."
The campaign continues until October 30th, visiting Carregal do Sal, Nelas, Mangualde, Castro Daire, Aguiar da Beira, Sátão, Vila Nova de Paiva, Penalva do Castelo, São Pedro do Sul, Oliveira de Frades, Vouzela, and Viseu.
Launched in July 2024, bora! is a pioneering sustainable mobility project promoted by CIM Viseu Dão Lafões, offering a public shared bicycle system across the 14 municipalities in the territory. The service operates daily between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM, allowing bicycle use for up to one consecutive hour, with access for individuals over 18 and minors aged 16 and above with parental authorization.
