The daily work of the Municipality of Peso da Régua, for its citizens, has once again been recognized nationally with the awarding of five Excellence in Municipal Management Awards 2026. These distinctions aim to reward the best practices of Portuguese municipalities and were presented during the IV Congress of the Social City, held on October 1 and 2, in Lagoa and Portimão.
The five awarded projects highlight the municipality's vision in planning, protecting, and investing in its people:
🛡️ Civil Protection Crisis Unit – Protect Before, Accompany During, Care After | Civil Protection. An integrated response for prevention, monitoring, and care.
☀️ 100% Holidays | Sports. An initiative promoting activity, social interaction, and safety for children and youth, providing peace of mind for families.
🏅 Peso da Régua Douro Sports City | Sports. A municipal brand aiming to increase sports offerings, participation, and quality of life for all ages.
🏊 Peso da Régua Swimming Club | Sports. A partnership fostering athlete development, healthy habits, and promoting the name of Régua.
🍷 Douro Wine City | Tourism. A strategy affirming Peso da Régua as the capital of the Douro Wine Region, focusing on wine, landscape, and local identity.
These awards are the result of a journey marked by vision, teamwork, and proximity, involving municipal teams, clubs, associations, partners, and, fundamentally, the residents of Régua. The recognition is shared by all.
It is with pride that we receive these distinctions, reinforcing the conviction that we are on the right path. We will continue to work to make Peso da Régua an increasingly worthwhile place to live, grow, and visit. 💙
