The Municipality of Murça, in partnership with the Agrupamento de Escolas de Murça and Ponto Electrão, marked International E-waste Day on October 14th with an environmental awareness initiative for the school and local community.

The initiative aims to encourage the delivery of end-of-life electrical and electronic equipment to designated collection points. Deposition sites were set up at the main school, near the Blue Pavilion, and in the outdoor area of the School Center, the latter accessible to the entire community.
To ensure the initiative's reach, flyers were distributed to all class tutors to inform students and their families. The goal is to raise awareness about the correct separation and disposal of this waste, actively promoting recycling and environmental protection.
The event was attended by the Vice-President of the Municipal Council, José Santos, Councillor Ana Cristina, and the Adjunct Professor of the Agrupamento de Escolas de Murça, Cátia Monteiro, highlighting the importance of collaboration between the Municipality and the educational community.
The Municipality of Murça reiterates its commitment to environmental education and building a more conscious and sustainable community, laying the groundwork for future initiatives aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
