The initiative, promoted by the Cantadeiras de Soajo (Soajo Singers), took place at Eira do Penedo, aiming to recreate the tradition and involve the community in a story that spans generations. The husking of corn ears unfolded in an atmosphere of unity and celebration, accompanied by the songs that preserve the collective memory of the territory.
The event was attended by the President of the Municipal Chamber, Olegário Gonçalves, who reinforced the municipality's commitment to preserving roots and intangible heritage. For the Municipality, this initiative, which brought together dozens of people from various generations, ensures the passing down of knowledge and the recreation of traditions that distinguish the territory.
The Desfolhada à Moda Antiga was attended by members of the Junta de Freguesia de Soajo (Parish Council), the Cantadeiras de Soajo, local associations, and the general public.
The initiative was part of the programming for the 1st Soajo Outdoor Fest Autumn Edition 2026, which ran from October 2nd to 5th. The festival included workshops, gastronomy, and concerts, set against a mountain backdrop. For four days, participants enjoyed an idyllic environment, surrounded by nature and tradition, discovering ancient paths and privileged locations.
The first autumn edition of the Soajo Outdoor Fest united generations, fostering conviviality and the preservation of roots. The highly successful event was supported by the Município (Municipality) and the Junta de Freguesia de Soajo.
