The Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo (UNIPVC) is hosting its first Research, Innovation, and Technology Transfer Week from October 12th to 16th, an event aimed at bringing scientific knowledge closer to businesses and the territory.

For five days, research will move out of the laboratories at UNIPVC to engage with companies, challenge students, and address the territory's problems and opportunities. The initiative, spanning across the university's Schools and Research Units, aims to showcase the produced knowledge and foster new collaboration possibilities.
Industrial property, maritime safety, blue economy, ocean energy, agri-food, digital innovation, and the impact of projects funded by the Recovery and Resilience Plan are among the key topics. Researchers, students, faculty, companies, and municipalities are invited to share experiences and needs.
The program includes workshops, conferences, Tech Talks, Think Tanks, a Hackathon, laboratory visits, and a scientific exhibition. The Week kicks off on October 12th with an opening session on the future of UNIPVC, followed by a workshop on Industrial Property and Innovation in collaboration with INPI.
In the following days, maritime safety will be discussed at the Onboard Safety Conference (October 13th), in partnership with CEDROS and Everlux Maritime. Later that day, a Tech Talk with Viana Innovators will address blue technologies and the territory's future, focusing on SUSTEMARE.
The School of Agrarian Sciences (ESA-UNIPVC) will host, on October 14th, a Think Tank on Innovation in the agri-food industry, organized with IAPMEI, and a visit to the laboratories of the Technological Valorization Centre for Agri-food – 3AR.
October 14th will also feature a technological Hackathon, in collaboration with UNTILE and ADiT-Lab, challenging students to develop a digital solution for the Viana do Castelo territory.
The relationship between academia and companies will be the focus of a Think Tank on October 15th, titled “Filling the Gap: How to reduce the distance between academia and companies?”, addressing technological development, training, and entrepreneurship.
The Week concludes on October 16th with a focus on the impact of the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR) projects on UNIPVC, evaluating the work developed and the results achieved.
Throughout the event, an exhibition on the University's research and innovation ecosystem will be on display, showcasing projects and research areas.
