The Hydro Play Tour experience, created by SPACE TRANSCRIBERS as part of Portugal's representation at the Venice Architecture Biennale, is featured in the S+T+ARTS Day on October 3rd. The event brings together AQUA MOTION and Viana STARTS for a day focused on the interaction between science, technology, art, and water.
The challenge is to explore new relationships between places, communities, and water. The program's highlight is the S+T+ARTS Aqua Motion Educational Workshop – Hydro Play Tour, a participatory experience that takes participants into the territory to explore the relationship with water through journeys, games, fiction, and performance.
S+T+ARTS Day is part of the final program of the five S+T+ARTS AQUA MOTION residencies, which run until October 11th in Viana do Castelo. Artists have been investigating the municipality, from the Lima River to the Atlantic coast, collaborating with communities, researchers, and institutions.
The residencies are managed by INOVA+, in collaboration with the Câmara Municipal de Viana do Castelo, bridging the AQUA MOTION program with the Viana STARTS ecosystem.
The S+T+ARTS initiative aims at territorial transformation. The program begins at 09:30 at the Edifício da Praia Norte, near the Observatório do Litoral Norte. At 10:00, the talk “S+T+ARTS: from the European initiative to the transformation of territories” will explain the initiative and the collaboration between art, science, and technology.
The session will feature artists from the residencies and members of the Water Innovation Labs, sharing experiences on collaboration and project impact. The morning also includes a visit to the future Viana STARTS site.
In the afternoon, between 14:30 and 17:30, the S+T+ARTS Aqua Motion Educational Workshop – Hydro Play Tour will take place, facilitated by SPACE TRANSCRIBERS and with collaboration from geographer Álvaro Domingues. Participation is free and limited to 30 participants, with prior registration.
The event marks the final stage of the five S+T+ARTS AQUA MOTION residencies in Viana do Castelo, which received 116 global proposals. The AQUA MOTION program supported 25 residencies across Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands, and Austria, co-financed by the European Union.
