The Space Festival, dedicated to Experimental & Improvised Music, kicks off November's cultural program. This Wednesday, the Cultural Center hosts the film-concert ‘Animações da Estónia’ for schoolchildren, a project that blends the visual tradition of Estonian animation with improvised music. In the late afternoon, at the Capela do Espírito Santo, Frederic Cardoso presents his Clarone project, focusing on the bass clarinet and collaborating with Latin American composers.
On Thursday, starting at 9:30 PM, the festival continues at the Quartel das Artes with saxophonist José Lencastre and guitarist Flak, exploring composition and improvisation. This will be followed by the It Deel IV project, by Joana Guerra, Maria Do Mar, Romke Kleefstra & Jan Kleefstra, a four-year initiative that merges poetry and music in a constantly evolving Frisian-international ensemble.
Contemporary circus arrives mid-month on Friday, November 13th, with the premiere of ‘Nocaute’, by Inês Pinho and Giovanni Concato. The show is a collaboration between the Cineteatro António Lamoso and the Paredes de Coura Cultural Center.
To warm up the cold days, November 14th and 15th are dedicated to ‘Cozido À Moda de Coura’. Restaurants such as O Barbaças, Pizaria Romântica, Albergaria, Miquelina, Xisto, Os Mouras, Merendas, and Renascer will be offering this traditional Coura dish.
The theatrical offering for November is the play ‘Começar tudo outra vez’, with artistic direction and interpretation by Raquel André and Tonan Quito. The play addresses themes such as birth, death, inheritance, community, and care networks, questioning narratives surrounding these topics.
Cinematic programming includes ‘Primetime’, ‘Memórias do Cárcere’, ‘O Gato do Chapéu’, and ‘Cavalo Selvagem Nove’ for the upcoming weekends. The month also features Family and Baby Program, Lego workshops, and Board Games.
