Santa Catarina Futebol Clube organized, for the fourth time, the Trail dos Catrinos, an athletics event held on the morning of today, October 11, 2026, in the vicinity of the village of Santa Catarina de Sítimos. The competition had a total of 211 participants.
The race was sponsored by athletes Duarte Sardinha and Maria João Ribeiro and included a long trail (27km), a short trail (16km), and a walk (11km).
In the short trail, Rui Dolores from Amiciclo Grândola won with a time of 1:18:38.890. He was followed by Rafael Silva (GDC Portos de Sines e do Algarve) and Carlos Conceição (G.D.R. São Francisco da Serra).
In the long trail, the victory went to Paulo Martins of G.D.R. São Francisco da Serra, with 2:02:19.664. Duarte Sardinha (Sharish Gin / GD Piranhas do Alqueva) and André Narigueta (Casa do Benfica de Reguengos de Monsaraz) completed the podium.
The competition was supported by the Município de Alcácer do Sal, the Junta de Freguesia de Santiago, and various local businesses. Among the attendees were the Mayor, Clarisse Campos, councilor António Grilo, and the president of the Junta de Freguesia de Santiago, Duarte Dimas.
