The Serra de Grândola will host, on November 1st, the 11th edition of the Ultra Trail Serra de Grândola (UTSG). Registrations are open and can be made online until October 16th, or until the participant limit for each distance is reached.
Organized by the Municipality of Grândola and the Clube Amiciclo, with the support of the local associative movement, the UTSG invites participants to explore the Serra de Grândola through its trails and paths. The terrain and natural characteristics of the area offer different levels of challenge along the routes.
The competitive races include the Trail Ultra (46 km) with 2500 meters of positive elevation gain (D+), the Trail Sprint (26 km) with 1400 meters D+, and the Mini Trail (14 km) with 600 meters D+. Additionally, there will be a guided Walk of 11 km, non-competitive.
Mostly contested on the trails and paths of the Serra de Grândola, the routes combine demanding climbs and steep descents, testing the participants' physical preparation, endurance, and effort management skills. In the Trail Ultra, the 2500 meters of positive elevation gain over 46 km emphasize the challenging nature of the longest distance.
Starts and finishes will take place at the Complexo Desportivo Municipal José Afonso. Trail Ultra participants will start first (8:00 AM), followed by Trail Sprint (8:30 AM), Mini Trail (9:30 AM), and the Walk (9:35 AM).
Registration for the three competitive distances includes a bib with electronic timing, solid and liquid aid stations on the course and at the finish, medical assistance, recovery massage, event t-shirt, and Finisher medal. Walk participants will receive the event t-shirt, participation medal, bib, and aid stations.
Registration fees vary: until October 10th, the Trail Ultra costs €25, Trail Sprint €20, Mini Trail €17, and Walk €15. From October 11th to 16th, prices increase to €35, €30, €25, and €20, respectively.
Registrations are processed through the Stop and Go platform and close at 11:59 PM on October 16th, if spots are not filled earlier. This year's edition is limited to 100 participants for the Trail Ultra, 200 for the Trail Sprint, 300 for the Mini Trail, and 150 for the Walk.
The organization plans to apply for the three competitive distances to be part of the circuits of the Associação de Trail Running de Portugal (ATRP), depending on the opening of the process and subsequent validation by the Association.
