SIMARSUL conducted a crisis drill at the Barreiro/Moita Wastewater Treatment Plant, focusing on analyzing critical interdependencies and enhancing its organizational preparedness and resilience.

SIMARSUL held a working session on October 13th at the Barreiro/Moita Wastewater Treatment Plant (ETAR) dedicated to analyzing critical interdependencies as part of its Crisis Plan development. The initiative took place on the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction, promoting awareness of risk and reducing exposure to disasters.
The work began with an introduction in the ETAR's auditorium, followed by the organization of participants into three working groups. These groups reflected on a specific crisis scenario, exploring through a participatory and interdisciplinary approach how a disruption in one system can generate cascading impacts on others and affect the organization's response capacity.
The session, organized in collaboration with the ENA - Arrábida Energy and Environment Agency, allowed for the analysis of potential vulnerabilities to high-impact, low-probability events. The aim was to support the identification of measures to strengthen SIMARSUL's response, coordination, and recovery capabilities.
The sharing of knowledge and experiences reinforced the importance of inter-departmental collaboration in preparing for crisis situations. The company emphasizes that a more prepared and resilient SIMARSUL is built with everyone's contribution.
