The Setúbal Municipal Services (SMS) hosted students from the Dom Manuel Martins School on October 26th for a study visit focused on drinking water quality.

The study visit provided students from the 2nd year of the Professional Course in Laboratory Analysis Technician with direct contact with the different stages of water supply and the monitoring and control procedures that ensure its quality. The initiative took place at the SMS facilities in Setúbal.
The visit began at the Algeruz supply subsystem, at Furo CBR2, where Susana Sequeira, Engineer from the SMS Water Quality and Environment Department, explained the operation of the council's supply system and the rigorous control carried out from the source to the consumer's tap.
The students then observed a water sampling demonstration for analysis, conducted by technicians from Laboratório Pró-Qualidade (LPQ), an entity accredited by IPAC. The tour included the Water Supply Pumping Station and the Algeruz Reservoir, concluding at the SMS Operational facilities in Ciprestes with a visit to the remote management center.
This learning experience brought future technicians closer to professional reality, showing the continuous work of rigor, monitoring, and control behind every tap. SMS ensures water quality through regular monitoring, laboratory analysis, and system oversight, with over 4000 analyses performed annually.
