The Largo do Mercado de Coina in Barreiro will host the 8th Quincentennial Fair from October 2-4. The event, running from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM each day, promises to transport visitors to the depicted era through sales areas for goods, crafts, and food, complemented by contextualized entertainment.
Friday's program, October 2, begins at 5:00 PM with the opening of merchants' tents and encampments, featuring groups such as Agape, Armis Nostrum, Companhia Al-Nawar, Espada Lusitana, Falcoaria Lusitana, Grupo de Danças Antigas, Jograis Del Rei, and Marsuppianee, among others. Highlights include a free-flight bird of prey demonstration by Falcoaria Lusitana at 7:00 PM and an opening fire show by Marsuppianee at 11:30 PM.
On Saturday, October 3, the fair opens at 5:00 PM. The day includes performances by Teatro da Besta, music by Gaiteiros dum Trago and Companhia Al-Nawar, and foot combat exercises by Espada Lusitana and Armis Nostrum. The bird of prey demonstration will be repeated at 7:30 PM, followed by a fire show at 11:00 PM.
Sunday, October 4, begins at 5:00 PM. The program features Teatro da Besta, an educational table on weaponry at the Military Camp by Espada Lusitana at 5:30 PM, and weapon demonstrations at 6:30 PM. Musical and dance entertainment will continue throughout the afternoon and evening, culminating in a fire show at 10:30 PM.
The fair will feature various entertainment groups, including Aliusvetus – Grupo de Danças Antigas, Agape, Armis Nostrum, Companhia Al-Nawar, Espada Lusitana, Falcoaria Lusitana, Impostoritos, Jograis Del Rei, Marsuppianaee, and Teatro da Besta. Admission is free for the general public.
The event is organized by the Câmara Municipal do Barreiro and the União das Freguesias de Palhais e Coina, in partnership with Aliusvetus – Associação Cultural História e Património.
